Looks like Rudy Gay is the first of the "big" free agents to agree to a contract...why wouldnt he? the report from the Memphis Commercial Appeal is that the Grizz have offered him the max...Rudy Gay is a very good player and still has room to improve but this is the Griz overpaying to keep Rudy Gay...If Rudy is max then so is OJ when his deal expires.

I initially thought that Richard Jefferson was a fool to opt out of his contact and leave 17 million on the table for next year..the guy is not going to get anywhere near that...but after this Rudy Gay deal maybe anything is possible.

Johnson would be foolish to leave a max deal on the table. He has no marketability and needs to stay in the ATL.

What kind of guesses do y'all have on the Big 3? I say LeBron stays in Cleveland and Bosh and Wade go to Chicago. Miami & NYK's are fucked for years.

I think the Juwan Howard deal was up there as the worse..it was over 100 million as well...Right after signing the deal his production fell off big time...Koncak had a ridiculous deal for his and considering the garbage player he was....

A lot of these teams have to over pay to keep their players...if they even think of offering less than the maximum they are walking and there are takers out there. Especially new york that is going to get desperate once all the FA start signing elsewhere.

There were reports that the Raptors were in agreement to do a sign and trade with Bosh and the Cavs...what the hell on that Cavs roster would they want? They dont need expiring contracts because they have one with Bosh..theyll just let him leave. The Cavs dont have any young talent and if Lebron stays their draft picks wont be that high. Shows why Toronto has been unable to put together a consistent winning team with a front office that makes these type of decisions.

Bosh to join Wade in signing with Heat
By Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears, Yahoo! Sports
2 hours, 3 minutes ago

Email Print Dwyane Wade(notes) and Chris Bosh(notes) have decided to sign with the Miami Heat while continuing to recruit LeBron James(notes) to help them form an All-Star triumvirate that threatens to shift the NBA’s balance of power, two sources with knowledge of the plans told Yahoo! Sports.

“They think they’ve got a real chance to pull this off with LeBron,” a league source said.

Said an official with one team that made a formal presentation to James: “It’s down to Cleveland or Miami for him.”

The three players shared a call after midnight on Wednesday, when Wade and Bosh told James they were committing to the Heat, a source said. James didn’t commit with them, but kept his own plans private for a television announcement on Thursday night. Wade and Bosh plan to formally announce their decision on Wednesday afternoon.

Still, Wade and Bosh decided they needed to make a commitment to give them the best possible chance of luring more talent – including James – with the additional salary-cap space in Miami.

As a possible contingency plan if they don’t get James, the Heat have discussed pursuing the Portland Trail Blazers point guard Andre Miller(notes) in a trade, a source said. The Heat could absorb Miller’s $7 million salary with their cap space. The Heat also have had trade conversations since before the draft about sending point guard Mario Chalmers(notes) and a first-round pick to Portland for shooting guard Rudy Fernandez(notes), a league source said. It’s possible the talks have now expanded with Heat forward Michael Beasley(notes) and Miller.

ESPN first reported Wade and Bosh’s plans.

They should have signed him a decade ago. Would be a typical Clipper move though.

Stan Van Gundy Rips LeBron, Says Bosh Is Wade's 'Lap Dog'

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy is known for being candid, but he was especially so on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Van Gundy opened up about the special ESPN will air on Thursday night as LeBron James announces where he'll play next season and other free-agent topics.

"It takes 15 seconds to say, 'I've decided to stay in Cleveland,' but we've got another 59 minutes and 45 seconds to, what? Promote LeBron James? As if we don't do that enough," said Van Gundy, who will not watch the special.

Van Gundy added that he wasn't surprised to hear that Chris Bosh will join Dwyane Wade in Miami.

He said Bosh has been following Wade around "for two weeks like a lapdog."

Van Gundy added that while free agency has gotten out of control, guys like Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant were still able to get contract extensions with little fanfare.

"It's gotten ridiculous I think. It's really I mean it's almost like a parody of itself this whole situation now," Van Gundy said.

"Look, the guy's a great player and wherever he goes, my bet would be Cleveland, that place will be excited. But an hour long special?"

Van Gundy should know his role and shut up and concentrate on his next porn role or just shave the damn stache and read a book about how to coach a basketball team. Shit, I forgot this guy still had a job after Celts debacle. Maybe his owner will now realize theat he still has ron Jeremy coaching his team and will fire him. What he said is pretty much the truth though.

I bet that they struggle to win 60 games. Team will have little to no depth. They will go something like 58-24 if I had to handicap things. I would also not be suprised if they start the season off slowly because they will have to get used to playing with each other. Looks great on paper but in reality it could turn into a massive failure.

lebron pretty much showed he can take any team to about 60 wins. wade and bosh, by themselves, should take that team to 58 win. if you add lebron to the mix, they should be unstoppable.

as far as getting used to playing with each other, i don't think that would take long. they've been playing together in the offseason getting ready for the olympics. bosh will probably take the longest since he'll be the 3rd option and his scoring will go down the most. lebron and wade's #'s will go down slightly but as long as they're winning, i don't think they'll care. chemistry is only a problem when you're not winning and i think they have too much talent to not win.

if they don't win the title next year, i think they'll win it the following year.

also, they reported that they offered mike miller a contract which expires toooonight. if they get him, they also got a shooter who they can't leave open.
